M1 - The Crab Nebula

Description
The Crab Nebula is the corpse of a dead star, having gone supernova about 1500 years ago. When it died, the explosion could be seen as a new, bright star in the sky and we have records to show that people saw it. Now it slowly fades away, but in the meantime looks like tendrils emanating from the center region where the star used to be. This very high resolution image shows all of those small tendrils in incredible detail.
